You’ve just got to try this wine. It’s from a remote part of France once known only for Armagnac – and where the grapes (Colombard and Sauvignon Blanc) once reserved for that special brandy are now being used to make zippy, modern whites. “Gascony is emerging as a brilliant source of inexpensive, fresh, bright, fruity wines,” says The Sunday Express, London.

Brought to you by the award-winning Plaimont Producteurs, Le Citronnier (‘the lemon tree’) certainly lives up to its name – though, just to be clear, it does not actually contain lemons! What you can look forward to are racy green apple and tangerine aromas, with a burst of lemon on the palate. All rounded out nicely with a long, mouthwatering finish.

The perfect apéritif or partner for fresh seafood. If you’re quick. - Zagat Wine
