Who needs lust and envy when you can have Siete Pecados (‘seven sins’) in your glass? A sinfully good blend of Spain’s native star grapes plus international Merlot and Syrah, this barrel-aged beauty is from Montsant, the hot, mountainous region just next door to Priorat (where you find some of Spain’s most expensive, age-worthy wines). Now, you didn’t hear this best-kept secret from us, but you also find some of the same miserly old vines and premium vineyard conditions you get in Priorat, in Montsant. So, you may not be surprised to learn that top critic Robert Parker calls this an “outstanding value for drinking over the next 5-6 years” and rates it 90 points.

Composed of 60% cherry-packed Grenache (Garnacha) and 35% spicy Carignan (Cariñena), with dashes of plummy Merlot, smooth Syrah and smoky Tempranillo, Siete Pecados is a complex delight made for enjoying with garlic lamb. Or, try it with a spread of tapas like jamón Serrano and patatas bravas. - Zagat Wine
