When friends drop by and you want a glass of something fresh, chilled and crowd-pleasing, you can’t beat northern Italy’s intensely aromatic white blends. Elegant examples like this gem from maestro Alessandro Gallici are rarely found for less than $30 a bottle — and rarely outside Italy.
Like the feathers on a Grande Pavone (‘large peacock’), it’s a beautiful fan of Italy’s native grapes, like Tocai Friuliano and Malvasia. One of Alessandro’s trademarks is also to include dashes of international stars like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. As you’ll taste, the resulting wine is much greater than the sum of its parts. - Zagat Wine

Basically tasted like a Chardonnay to me, which is strange because I was drinking it out of the Syrah glass.
