Madeleine Paicines Chapitire IV - Au Rendez-Vous de la Marquise Cabernet Franc 2008
Region: Paicines, California
Winery: Madeleine Wines
Variety: Cabernet Franc
Color: Deeper ruby to garnet core with violet highlights, ruby edges
Nose: Beautiful already and very fleshy fruit here in its young age. With earthy and ripe darker fruits of black cherry, juicy plum and boysenberry. Sweeter tobacco leaf towards the rim and dark damp earth just poking through.
Palate: A tremendous effort, this wine has a long, long life ahead of it. It features that same savory yet juicy dark fruit from the nose, concentrating in boysenberry, cassis and red plum right now, but with black cherry towards the long, juicy and savory finish. The tannins are knitting well, but with good and strength and fine, yet chalky texture. The mouth is medium to full bodied, with fresh cigar in the mid-palate and finish and a bit of damp forest floor and savory thyme as well, to accompany the juicy, balanced acidity. Just an amazing effort and ridiculously cheap for such quality: AwesomeWK, KeeperWK, OldWorldWK, QPRWK.
