Tasting done in a Riedel O Series Cab/Merlot glass (R) and an Eisch Breathable Red Wine glass (E):
R has very good plush red/black fruit with hint of anise and dried herbs. E much bigger and more immediately apparent nose of plush red and earthier black fruit with big anise forest floor. R More tannic upfront then quickly & beautifully balanced cool red fruit of raspberry and then Bing cherry, finish is more chalky, with some slight bitter chocolate. E bright red cherry and raspberry fruit first then minty/pine fresh anise in the cool finish, tannin comfortably supporting the base. Very open with an espresso/cocoa finish, chalky yet sinuous feel.

St. Supéry Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2003
Region: Napa Valley, California
Winery: St. Supéry Vineyards & Winery
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot
Rating: 4
Color: Dark ruby, more brick edges
Nose: Quite good with earthy black cherry, blackberry, dried herbs and anise
Palate: Anise here too, in a full-integrated and balanced palate. Silky-smooth tannins with good backbone, complement nice acid with a wonderful earthy red/black fruit medley here as well, highlighting cassis, anise and some charred Bing cherry in the finish. Good!
