Trefethen Oak Knoll District Library Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
Region: Oak Knoll District, California
Winery: Trefethen Family Vineyards
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot
Rating: 5
Color: Dark garnet core with ruby still at outermost edges
Nose: Big bouquet of darkest fruit, tipped with black cherry, but black berry, cassis, cardamon and anise rule the day, with dried herbs of sage and rosemary and some slight char.
Palate: Full bodied with silky power.Black cherry here as well, but with ripe blackberry and cassis lurking with deep power underneath. Sweet tobacco, savory char, anise and 72% Scharffen Berger dark chocolate in the long, long finish with round, good grip. With air, the finish becomes more tactile and chalky. Extremely good.
