Color: Inky ruby/garnet monster
Nose: Absolutely lush Bing/black cherry fruit, with cassis and blackberry underneath along with ripe cassis. Some savory characteristics here too, mainly form the integrating rich oak. Great.
Palate: Full coating tannins here too, but actually more round than the '05 Napa Valley. Great black deep dark fruit here as well, with a hint of cherry peaking through, but many more years before that comes out. Good spicy oak and slighter toast comforting the fruit. Also outstanding, in a more plusher style.

Cornerstone Cellars Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2004
Region: Howell Mountain, California
Winery: Cornerstone Cellars
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Rating: 4
Color: Very concentrated garnet with ruby edges
Nose: Beautiful black and bing cherry nose, followed by a hint of savory meat and even darker depths of black fruit.
Palate: Big mouth of tannins that are still integrating at this point, needs a nice filet with a reduction sauce. Sweet oak overlay that is quite in the fore now, but has yet to integrate, but then some blue/black fruit comes in towards the long finish of earth, char and black cherry. Some savory notes here too.
