Bokisch Vineyards Clements Hills Estate Garnacha 2006
Region: Clements Hills, Lodi, California
Winery: Bokisch Vineyards
Variety: Garnacha, Tempranillo
Rating: 3
Color: Very light burgundy
Nose: Green and vegetal at first, but quickly blows off after decanting. Then some very Pinot-style tart cherry and cranberry with some underlying pomegranate. Also has some big black pepper, rosemary and spice.
Palate: Very similar in all categories to a high-acid, Old World Pinot, this has a very spicy and peppery palate with the bright red fruit from the nose. The rosemary comes back in at the finish, as well as some of the vegetal notes, finishing with some slight oak and a little hot. Good, though.
