Great color on this wine! The 2005 vintage smelled very juicy, with especially strong cherry notes. I'd say this wine especially benefits from some aeration. First tasting produces a very strong cherry flavor; a congealed kind of fruitiness that reminded me of a thick jam or even a flavored pancake syrup; is a bit oaky - in an entirely acceptable, if not pleasing (vanilla notes) way -; and is well balanced. Later tastings (up to five or six days later) produces a very different experience, with the congealed juiciniess separating into distinct layers - a much more pleasing effect. I picked up bits of strawberry, a plumminess, and just a hare of blueberry in later tastings.

Tannins are moderate, with a decent amount of "pucker" effect at the tail end, though the acidity tends to wash that pretty quickly. Just a slight sense of "heat" on the back end as well.

Overall, a very pleasant wine. At the $18.99 price point, you can probably find some 88-90 point wines that do a better job, but this is still a solid effort.
