POMELO Sauvignon Blanc California 2006 (87 points)
The pomelo is a giant citrus fruit native to Malaysia and is also cultivated in California and Israel. It is thought to be an ancestor of grapefruit and displays many of its’ attributes. That same ripe juicy quality is present in this wine. Food pairings: Greek salads, feta cheese, sharp cheddar, shellfish salads, smoked fish, salad Nicoise.
Pungent gooseberry, lime, green papaya and pea notes have zippy acidity, a fresh fragrance and a juicy finish.
Inviting citrus, pineapple aroma that lingers seductively. A full, round, refreshing mouthful of grapefruit and figs. This wine is creamy and rich while being crisp and complex. A great wine to pair with spicy Asian faire, raw oysters, seafood and cheese.
