Rockblock Cellars Syrah 2003
Region: Del Rio Vineyards, Rogue Valley, Oregon
Winery: Rockblock Cellars
Variety: Syrah
From the bottle: The Del Rio Vineyard is located in the Rogue Valley Appellation in Southern Oregon. Planted to Noir clone Syrah, this vineyard produces a dark, extracted and complex wine. Extremely small production. Rockblock Syrah is a collaboration of Domaine Serene's owners, Ken and Grace Evenstad, and their winemaker Tony Rynders.
From the Wine Spectator website (regarding the 2004 vintage which rated a "90"):
Rich in texture, with lots of ultraripe plum, prune and Asian spice aromas and flavors that ride smoothly over polished tannins. The finish lingers well. Drink now through 2012. 795 cases made. –HS
