I graded this wine the same as drxeno, but closer to a two rather than four on my end, similar to a Cab. Not really one of my favorites, but my wife enjoyed it. I would like to taste in another year or so, would be a good Merlot to cellar, and it is good wine for the money, 9.00 in Mississippi.

Red Rock California Merlot 2005
Region: California
Winery: Red Rock Winery
Variety: Merlot
Color Purple & ruby
Nose: Some toasty oak acts as an undercurrent to the blackberry fruit and even some cherry
Palate: Tastes a bit young, with good tannic structure, not to be anticipated for a state-wide wine. Tastes as if there is some Cab Sauv in there, but I can't find any info on the wine. Quite good, almost a 4, but I need some more time to see if the great parts of the structure integrate over the next year or so. Great depths of fruit and acidity. Good stuff!
