Trovato is a super-Tuscan style blend of the Italian Sangiovese and the French Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc varieties. Trovato displays zesty, spicy fruit from Sangiovese along with the rich character and fullness of the French varieties – a complementary flavor match that enhances the best characteristics of each classic variety.
Trovato, meaning, “something discovered” in Italian, is one of our favorite red wines and uses only the best grapes from low yielding vineyards. For the 2004 vintage, only 293 cases were produced and aged in small French and American barrels. This is a very special, limited availability wine.
