This is the third vintage of our late harvest wine and although it is not a literal translation, "Solanus" refers to something born of the sun. This wine brings back memories of the "Indian Summer" days of autumn, when the nights get cool, the days are sunny and clear and the grape vines begin turning color as the leaves slowly dry on the vine. Under those conditions, the grapes develop the extra sugar needed to turn into a sweet dessert wine. The aroma and flavor of this wine leave no doubt that it is Semillon, but with an added element; extra time ripening on the vine. Semillon is considered a Bordeaux variety.
This unique wine features enticing aromas of ripe peaches, floral and fresh mint, along with flavors of honey, candied peaches, passion flower and figs. With its full, soft mouthfeel and long smoot finish, it is definately a dessert wine to serve with fresh fruit, Creme Brule or creme filled lady fingers. This is a limited bottling featuring a year of unique vine ripening. Future releases of Solanus will be determined primarily by Mother Nature.
