From a great harvest! This wine is concentrated and ripe, yet elegant. The aroma is heady with the scent of ripe strawberry, vanilla and red rose petals. Lush flavors of red, black and dried fruits layer the mid palate leading to a long finish with tastes of chocolate and black cherry. What made this harvest so special? Spring and summer were encouraging due to the beautiful weather, however September brought with it a dramatic heat wave that pushed sugars way up, prompting many growers to pick early. Because my vineyard is in the cool, northwestern end of Anderson Valley, this warmth was a blessing, moderated by ocean breezes. We picked in mid October, a full month after most of my neighbors and the fruit was perfect.
