An excellent example of Howell Mountain intensity and hillside concentration; this was the only Cornerstone wine we produced in 2001 and only 775 cases were bottled. This is winemaker Celia Masyczek`s first start-to-finish vintage for us. Her notes of May 19 read, "Sweet black cherry and wild black raspberry, hints of roasted sage and cedar dust. Sweet, strong oak. Vanilla, caramel, blackberry tea. Teak. Rich, soft, full-bodied. Forward fruit inspiration lasts through the palate--wine finishes with fruit sweetness."
92 points"Dark, intense and concentrated, with a tight focus to the earthy currant and blackberry flavors. It gains in complexity, with hints of herb, mineral and sage and shows excellent depth, though it's tightly wound and needs to shed some tannins. Best from 2006 through 2012."
