Winemaker Laurie Hook chose to use a combination of whole-berry and whole-cluster (carbonic) fermentations to accentuate the forward fruit aromas and flavors. Gentle punching down of the caps preserved the Pinot’s brightness and extracted color, aromas and flavors without compromising the varietal’s silky texture. After pressing, the wine was quickly put into seasoned small Burgundian oak barrels (32 percent new) and aged for ten months. The wine has a dark ruby-garnet color with cherry, strawberry, sweet orange rind, old rose and spice aromas that lead into a lush-fruit mouth of sweet red cherries, sweet spice and silky tannins.
Review
"Best of Tasting”Rating: Very Good/Delicious“Rich and fruity with a nice undertone of rich earth and all sorts of complex tastes. It’s still young, but it’s already quite seductive.”Wall Street JournalJanuary 28, 2005
