Lost Creek Rose 2007
Region: Virginia
Winery: Lost Creek
Variety: Rose
This blend of Niagara, Chardonnay and Merlot grapes is fairly light and sweet. There is jasmine on the nose, and red berries from the merlot. Niagara's characteristic diesel and musk attributes are muted into near-imperceptibility.
On the swish, the fascinating Niagara character emerges, with a note of concord that develops into the raisiny suggestion of muscat flavor along with other subtle complexities, and just a wee kick of tannin from the merlot. Raspberries follow as the body fades, and the finish is sweet and clean.
