One last addition...I do like the fact that there is no residual sugar. A lot of Zins these days do keep some sweetness in there.

Shenandoah Vineyards Amador County Special Reserve Zinfandel 2005
Region: Amador County
Winery: Shenandoah Vineyards
Variety: Zinfandel
Color: Thin, lightly red.
Nose: Not much here, rather tart.
Palate: Completely disappointing and bizarre. Tastes like a bad Pinot, with no discernible varietal or regional qualities. Some tart sour red fruit, mainly like an unripe cherry, and maybe some bramble, but it's difficult to distinguish from the general flavors of unripe, green fruit. Cheap oak flavors round out the lack of a finish.
Very strange, I've loved this wine in past vintages, finding it not only a great value wine, but just a wonderful quaffer...not this year (a great vintage throughout most of CA). The WE rating and review almost seem like they got a different wine than we did (did they bottle the wrong one??). Tasted multiple bottles from multiple cases over ~5mo with the same results everytime. Odd.
