Professional Wine Ratings
Professional wine ratings are scored by the groups listed below. These ratings are based on a 100-point scale and are entered into the WineLog database by users like you.
The problem with professional wine rating systems is that the score of the wine depends on the person doing the rating. So, while you may use these professional ratings as some indication of the wine's quality, we urge you to place more weight on the WineLog five-star rating, if available, as it is an average measure of the general public's impression of that wine.
Wine Spectator
95-100, Classic; 90-94, Outstanding; 85-89, Very Good; 80-84, Good
96-100, Extraordinary; 90-95, Outstanding; 80-89, Barely above average to very good
Wine & Spirits
95-100, Superlative/Rare finds; 90-94, Exceptional examples of their type; 86-89, Highly recommended; 80-85, Recommended as good examples of their variety/region
We do not make any claims to the accuracy of these ratings and are in no way affiliated or associated with the interest groups and publishers listed above, including Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, The Wine Advocate and Wine & Spirits.
Varietal Composition:
89% Merlot
7% Cabernet Franc
4% Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes
Scents of raspberries, currants, & black tea lead you into herbs & spices. The wine brings on qualities of fresh apple and black cherry next, with a background of pepper, vanilla, and earthy caramel molasses barrel toast characters. On the palate this Merlot screams red and black cherry, blueberry, plum, vanilla and caramel. The mouthfeel is fluid and silky, full throughout the palate exhibiting some restrained strength in the tannins. The palate extends through the finish with a balanced acidity and warming note leading into flavors of fresh berries and vanilla caramel toastiness. We feel this wine has classic characters of Northern Napa Merlot.
