Winery: Provenance Vineyards
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Rating: 3
91 Points Wine Spectator: "Sleek and refined, with a tight beam of spicy currant, earth, mineral, sage and dusty berry fruit that's pure and focused, ending with a complex aftertaste of loamy currant. Drink now through 2013. 17,300 cases made." (5/31/07) Elegant yet rich, the majority of fruit for this Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on a well-drained alluvial fan at Vineyard Georges III in Napa Valley's Rutherford subappellation. First planted by Thomas Rutherford in the late 1800s, the vineyard is now an important source for Cabernet Sauvignon with true Rutherford character and all it implies. All grapes were hand picked. Crafted to reflect the vintage, the varietal and this famed subappellation of Napa Valley, this wine was aged in a combination of new and old oak for 18 month.
