Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2004
Yeah, so this wine was very good. I wish I had taken notes to give you a more detailed review, but I'll try my best here.
This wine was an attention grabber. I took a sip kind of mindlessly while watching football on Sunday and just had to stop watching and focus on the flavors in my mouth.
I'll have to check the alcohol content, but I'd guess 14% or higher. It was a powerful wine. I remember some olive flavors on the finish. Subtle fruit on the front.
Kim's description: "awakening".
Yeah, it's just hard to describe. Hopefully you've had wines like this that just have so much unique and strong flavor that drinking it becomes more than a typical wine experience.
At $13 it's a steal. At $24, it's relatively cheap. Pick some of this up if you can.

If you like this Malbec, try the Recuerdo one as well. Both are comparable, and priced very similar ($15 I think) http://www.recuerdowines.com/the_wines

Kaiken Ultra Malbec 2004
Region: Mendoza
Winery: Kaiken
Variety: Malbec
Rating: 5
We haven't opened this yet. I will write a review once I try some. However, I wanted to say that Pennsylvanians (and people in state) can pick up this wine at a state store under the Chairman's Select program. The wine was $13, and they said the "original price" was $24. We'll see if this is a good deal or not once I get a taste, but Malbec is a great grape and I've been itching to try something from Argentina.
