Bogle Merlot 2004

This is an excellent Merlot. Not overpowering at all. Tickled me in all the right places.

We enjoyed a glass of this merlot with a pasta dinner but then continued the bottle after the pasta was gone! It's a great wine with food or standing on its own. Next time we'll drink it with a plate of Port Salut and my favorite Carr's Rosemary Crackers.

Pleasant with a touch of spice

Still a 5 in my mind. We had some of this with pasta at a BYOB the other day. The flavor is very mild. Silky smooth. It has that weight to it that fills your whole mouth. If you are a fan of flavorful wines, this might not float your boat. But if you like drinkable reds, this is where it's at.

On my second tasting of Bogle Merlot I found it thin and boring. Did my tastes change that much in the past few months?

Now, all I get is a little black cherry. For its price point, the wine isn't terrible - but spring a few more bucks and you can get something infinitely more outstanding.
