The nose knocks me out - it is FINALLY a dead ringer for the early 1970-something Inglenook cabernet sauvignon that first taught me wine could be thoroughly enjoyed for something other than its alcohol content. The deep, almost-black, young, brick-red color brings aromas of fireplace, oak bookshelf, leather chair and deep grape forest to the nose. Sure suggests sweet, round oak to come. In fact, in comes on the palate a bit less round, more with slightly creamy brewed tea notes and light, silty tannins. Finish fades rapidly at first, then rebuilds to a nice linger. Bombshell aroma and buildup, then delivering solid, structured, but not blockbuster substance. (more at spiritofwine.blogspot.com)
