This wine is only available at Olive Garden restaurants. I am trying to contact Olive Garden to see if it is even remotely possible to obtain this wine outside of the restaurants. Anything I hear back will be posted here.

I just went to the Olive Garden tonight and tried Principato Rosato for the first time. It was wonderful! They told us at the restaurant that it was hard to find. I fully intend on ordering from someone because that is the best wine I have tasted in quite awhile. ****

OG Update: I got a super secret phone number from Olive Garden to call about wine matters. I'll try it today, but I imagine the answer is going to be something like "only sold in stores". I hope I'm wrong.

I'd be interested to know how you made out with that phone number.

I haven't called that number yet, but I did finally get out to an Olive Garden to try the wine.
It was decent. Very drinkable. I understand why a lot of folks would like this. Though it tasted like the kind of wine you "graduate from" as your wine palate. Very similar taste to an Arbor Mist wine.
That may sound snobby, which is something I try to avoid. I guess I'm just trying to say that this wine was not as complex as some of the stuff I like now as opposed to when I started drinking. I would say though that it went very well with the salad and bread sticks and my chicken alfredo pizza. Also, at $22 for a magnum (we only got a couple glasses) it's pretty affordable too. I would definitely order it again next time I go to Olive Garden.
Some people are interested in whether they can get this wine at home. Sadly, the answer is no. Although if you go to the restaurant you can take one bottle home with you... as long as it is opened at the restaurant first. This might be a PA thing (I'll check when I call that #). So you can take some home, and it's a magnum. But then the bottle has to be opened first, so you better have one of those handy air-sucker-outer thingies ready when you get home.

I am a relatively new wine drinker. I really liked this wine, but don't have an Olive Garden close to my house. Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be similar in taste?

I found this (Dec. 2007) at a State Store in PA and bought it because I liked the color and shape of the bottle. I really didn't know what to expect with it, but after the first taste I had to thank my stars. It's just a really well-made table wine with a refreshing flavor and light bouquet, fruity enough to be interesting, and smooth as silk. There is no "winey" aftertaste, and it is friendly enough with food. It's just a tasty, gentle, friendly wine. I'm delighted to add it to my "cellar".

I purchased this at a local liquor store for Thanksgiving as a "second" wine. It turned out to be the favorite. My brother in law was floored when he found out it was only $9.99 for 1.5l.

I agree, this is one of the best rosé wines I have tasted. In North Carolina I have purchased the wine at Olive Garden and it did NOT have to be opened. They even included a really nice cardboard container to carry it in. It was $28.

If you live in NH, this wine can be purchased by the case from the state liquor stores. The sku is 32519, and the cost here is $62.00 per case of 6 bottles. At our local Olive Garden, a bottle ( which must be opened here), costs $33.00. Hope this helps someone!

Angels' Share Wine Shop in Modesto, CA sells the Principato Rosso which is a red wine blend. www.aswineshop.com

Found a few more places selling this.
MarketView Liquor (online):

Good Spirits (online):

And I noticed that there were quite a few in the PA Wine and Spirits system. Just go to your local W&S store and ask someone to look it up for you. They should be able to give you a list of the closest stores with inventory.

Anyone know how many calories in a glass?
Posted by Rosemary on May 9th, 2008 at 2:23am | report comment
Rosemary, wine producers aren't required to disclose how many Calories per serving there are in their wines.
However, the numbers are fairly typical across each type of wine.
This website (http://www.annecollins.com/calories/calories-wine.htm) says that Rose has about 95 Calories per 4oz serving.
The main source of Calories in wine will be the sugar. So know that a sweeter wine (which Principato Rosato is) will have a bit more than average. Dryer wines will have a bit less.
