Gewurztraminer

Also known by the names Traminer Musque, Traminer Parfume, Traminer Aromatique, and Rotor Traminer. Coming from the white wine grape ?Traminer?, this fragrant wine possesses floral flavors along with hints of clove and nutmeg. The darker colored grape produces wine with a gold or peach tone. Gewurztraminer wines rarely age well over five years. Its pungent aroma and crisp, spicy flavor is easily recognized. However, the full-bodied taste and heavy texture may be overwhelming to many dishes. It is best served with fresh fruit and cheeses, such as Munster, as well as simple fish and chicken meals. Gewurztraminer also compliments dishes with hot pepper, oriental five spice, and curry and may also be served as a dessert wine.
