Nose: very herbaceous (even for a Sauvignon Blanc), capsicum, green apple, passion fruit Palate: dry, warm, medium(+) acid. Flavours of green apple, herbs, unripe pineapple, green grape skin. Jan. 17, 2012	St. Magdalener 2010 St. Magdalener 2010 Region: Sudtirol - Alto Adige, Italy > Winery: Cantina Burggräfler Variety: Schiava, Lagrein A little pale in color for being a red wine. Scents of black cherry and blackberry and a good acidity, while low in tannin. A light and fresh wine which I greatly enjoyed and can be well paired with meat sauce pasta. Tasting Notes & Comments	A little pale in color for being a red wine. Scents of black cherry and blackberry and a good acidity, while low in tannin. A light and fresh wine which I greatly enjoyed and can be well paired with meat sauce pasta. Not very warm, but agile and easy to drink, even though it could be probably still be aged for a couple of years. - 01/17/2012
Jan. 15, 2012	Caldese 2008 Caldese 2008 Region: San Marino > Winery: Consorzio Vini tipici di San Marino Variety: Ribolla, Chardonnay I never had a wine from San Marino so I didn't know what to expect exactly. This one is a white wine aged ten months in barrique: it presents lemon color and scents of herbs, smoke and stone. The palate is very similar, with slight hints of green apple and a slightly heavier body than steel aged white wines. I didn't expect a fruit bomb, but it still has sharp acidic edges and a bitter aftertaste which I didn't enjoy. I was expecting a more rounded wine, I am not very satisfied. Maybe it could be aged a little more. Anyway pairing it with spinach and ricotta tart saved my day, it's still a light wine and herb scents paired well with spinach. - 01/15/2012		2/5 Stars. 1 2 3 4 5
