Jun. 20, 2009	Pizzato Merlot Reserva 2005 Pizzato Merlot Reserva 2005 Region: Vale dos Vinhedos, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil > Winery: Pizzato Variety: Merlot I am not used to merlots, but I found this wine quite nice. Beautiful aroma; it clearly reminded me of the vale dos vinhedos cellars. The colour was quite deep and a bit cloudy. Tasted more acidic than I expected; tannins were there, but they were not intrusive. Overall a very pleasant and easy to drink wine. - 03/01/2010		4/5 Stars. 1 2 3 4 5
Tasting Notes & Comments	I am not used to merlots, but I found this wine quite nice. Beautiful aroma; it clearly reminded me of the vale dos vinhedos cellars. May. 6, 2009	Brown Brothers Orange Muscat & Flora 2006 Brown Brothers Orange Muscat & Flora 2006 Region: Victoria, Australia > Winery: Brown Brothers Variety: 75% Orange Muscat, 25% Flora. As expected, it is very sweet. It matches well a sweet desert as both sweetness can complement each other. I am, however, not used to this type of wines, so when first tasting it, with no food, I found it overly sweet and having a "thick" feeling that was unpleasant to me. Despite that, the following day I had it with desert and I liked it very much. Clear red, but pushing to a purple. Aroma: Distinctive red berries, perhaps strawberry like. Palate: Perfect sweetness and acidity, quite short finish, but very pleasantly refreshing. Jan. 13, 2009	Cuvée Julien - Dopff Au Moulin - Crémant D'Alsace - Brut Cuvée Julien - Dopff Au Moulin - Crémant D'Alsace - Brut Region: Alsace, France > Winery: Dopff Au Moulin Variety: Appearance: Pale gold. Aroma: Quite distinctive truffle aroma. I understand that this could be a feature but it is likely to be some defect concerning a sulphur compound. I think I can smell some flower there, but the truffle is so strong that it hides other scents. The truffle aroma could also be due to storage after opening. I opened the wine 24 hour before this tasting and kept in the fridge with a proper sparkling stopper that kept a considerable amount of pressure in the bottle. I can't recall the truffle aroma from the first glass right after opening, however I have not really pay much attention at the wine at that stage.
