We craft our Night Harvest Shiraz from the grape variety made famous by the Aussies, which also is known as Syrah. This is a rich, full-bodied red with very enticing cherry, berry and vanilla bean aromas, a somewhat meaty texture and luscious blackberry flavors with an intriguing hint of anise. We age it for over a year in seasoned oak barrels, which makes its robust, black-fruit flavors even smoother and more mouthfilling.
Recipe Pairing Suggestion
At the winery, we love to pair our Shiraz with hearty foods like Skewered Lamb with Lavender-Balsamic Syrup, grilled burgers and sausages, pepper steak, barbecued chicken and ribs, and flavorful hard cheeses.

Winemaker Comments
“Vibrant fresh fruit aromas of black cherry and currant combine with hints of rosemary in this Bordeaux-style blend, named for the whistling trains that pass through the landscape of Eastern Washington’s vineyards. The palate is full of the same black fruit flavors matched with soft supple tannin and sweet oak.”
-Joy Andersen, Winemaker
Food Pairings
Whistlestop Red is Snoqualmie’s classic Cabernet-Merlot blend, suited for pairing with everyday meals such as grilled burgers and barbecued chicken.

A cross of Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner, Morio-Muskat offers delicate fruit flavors and aromas suggesting peaches and honeysuckle. This unique wine is well-matched with fresh fruits and cheeses, or can be enjoyed by itself well-chilled on a sunny afternoon.

A variety of central European origin that’s somewhat rare in the U.S., Lemberger offers fragrant aromas of fresh cherries, red berries and plums with an earthy undertone adding complexity. With light, soft tannins and an easy-drinking character, it’s a great choice for both red and white wine drinkers.

This is a spicy wine at its core with anise, clove and coffee bean accenting its bright fresh cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. It is a rich, full-bodied, expressive wine that still shows some finesse with fine, almost powdery tannins and well-integrated oak. Tobacco and black pepper linger on the finish. Pair this wine with grilled tri-tip steak, aged cheeses or dark chocolate.

This wine was one of the September 2007 Canoe Ridge wine club pics.
Thanks to the location of the vineyard, the Merlot grapes received no damage from frost during a challenging spring. Canoe Ridge was fortunate to have nice weather later in the summer and fall and achieved good maturity at the end of the ripening season.

Wine critics have called the 2003 vintage in Washington one of the best in recent history. The weather was very similar to the outstanding 1998 vintage; when a long, hot summer was followed by cool weather in September, allowing the grapes extra hang time on the vine and more flavor development.

The Viognier hails from our own Kestrel View Estate Vineyard, located at 1,200 feet just below the Saddleback Ridge, North of Prosser. Smasne Farms cultivated the Gewürztraminer. Both grape varietals were harvested late in the season at full maturity with sugar content near 25 Brix.

I think that this wine is an excellent wine for the price. It has a wonderful crisp pepper finish and easy very easy to drink. We were able to pick it up at our local grocer for $6.99 a bottle on sale. Going to go back today and pick up some additional bottles for later. - 09/22/2007
