Jun. 14, 2010	Praxis Lodi Viognier 2007 Praxis Lodi Viognier 2007 Region: Lodi, California > Winery: Praxis Cellars Variety: Viognier From the Winery: Arbios Cellars was founded in 1993 and the Praxis line was added in 2000. The word Praxis is derived from the Greek word for practice of a profession, such as law or medicine. All the wines of this label are 100% varietal wines. “The wine's color is pale straw with green highlights while the aroma carries citrus and light jasmine scents. Flavors of honeysuckle and stone fruit are accented with hints of vanilla, pear and guava,” Bill Arbios, owner and winemaker. - 06/14/2010 Smells like "Spring": nice grass, soft florals on the nose. Has the body of a good Chardonnay. Praxis website says this is fermented in 100% stainless steel, but I swear I taste a subtle bit of oak. I liked it. (I'm more of a steel vs. oak fan myself, but a touch is nice.) Good balance of crispness and smoothness. Apple on the back of the tongue. Note on my rating: I rated this a high 4 when tasting it. But while writing this note up, I'm salivating thinking about the wine so... so I upgraded to a 5 and looking forward to trying this again. - 06/14/2010		5/5 Stars. 1 2 3 4 5

Jun. 14, 2010	Mumm Napa DVX 2001 Mumm Napa DVX 2001 Region: Napa Valley > Winery: Mumm Napa Variety: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Tight bubbles. Golden color, slight bronze (almost pink). I was stuffed up while tasting, but could get some nice peach scents on the nose. Some not as nice, but also not terrible, latex smells too. Toasty butter, slight oak, lime finish. Apples in there. Dark berries on the nose and palate. Big alcohol. Needs to settle some... or aerate. Using the "True Taste" wine aerator helped a lot... smoothed out the taste and brought some of the more subtle flavors to the front. - 05/31/2010		3/5 Stars. 1 2 3 4 5

An aromatic nose features dark raspberry, vanilla and violets. A full bodied, gorgeous lush wine with black cherries, blackberries and blueberries on the palate with a long pleasant finish. May. 5, 2010	Kingsford Manor Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Kingsford Manor Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Region: Napa Valley, California > Winery: Kingsford Manor Variety: Sauvignon Blanc Paired with Sirloin Rolls at Newman Wine Dinner at Morton's, May 2010. I drank this at the Newman Wine Dinner at Morton's, May 2010. Tom (of Morton's) picked this out and paired it with a Sirloin Roll appetizer. In my mind, one of the best white-on-beef wine pairings of the century. But seriously, this wine held up very well against the beef. Huge nose on this one. Tropical fruits. Little peach. Someone said grapefruit. Great balance in the mouth. Tasty white to try again. - 05/05/2010 From Newman Wine and Spirits: "This superb Sauvignon Blanc has a captivating nose of pear, candied pineapple and lush tropical fruit. Excellent balance with peach, lemon custard, melon and hints of exotic fruit. Tasting Notes & Comments	I drank this at the Newman Wine Dinner at Morton's, May 2010. Tom (of Morton's) picked this out and paired it with a Sirloin Roll appetizer. In my mind, one of the best white-on-beef wine pairings of the century. But seriously, this wine held up very well against the beef. Huge nose on this one. Tropical fruits. Little peach. Leans toward the fruit side of things. Nice and refreshing. Newman said, "Tiny bubbles" :) - 05/05/2010 From Newman Wine and Spirits: "Made by the traditional methods, this Cava spent more than 9 months on its lees in a cool, dark cave in Spain, giving it deeper flavors and a richer mouth feel. No oak here. Nose: honey and granny-smith apple. Front: Golden raisin. Light acidity. Finish: Crisp, with a "sharp" aftertaste.
