Copper and pomegranate and candy...smarties, on the nose. Nice grip, mid to full body and a little heat but not overpowering. Very light oak with light tannins. Aug. 26, 2008	Estancia Chardonnay 2005 Estancia Chardonnay 2005 Region: Monterey Pinnacles Ranch > Winery: Estancia Variety: Chardonnay Purchased at Kroger 13.5% alc Slightly earthy, dirty nose right after opening the bottle, but that burned off after being open for an hour. Then the nose was very tight with subtle grapefruit/citrus. Slightly effervescent on the front palate. Light for a Chard. All citrus flavors, nice finish. Reminds me of a not-quite-so-unique D'Arrenburg Original Shiraz-grenache. Definate smokey cheese taste on the mid-to-finish transition. Dry, but not harsh after breathing for an hour or so.
