winemaker's notes:

Mâcon-Villages Jadot is a clean, fresh Chardonnay with typical varietal fragrance and elegant, citrus and white fruit flavors on the palate. Vinified without oak contact, the delicate acid balance carries into a refreshing, crisp finish. - 02/03/2008

Rich, woody, smooth finish. Excellent drinking wine. - 02/03/2008

From Wine Enthusiast: "Initially, the tannins are very firm, closed, and the wine obviously needs aging or decanting. With time, you get the vibrant red fruits over the taste of young tannins. Better to give it 3–4 years." — R.V. (4/1/2007) - 02/03/2008

MYSTERY:
Was unable to find any concrete information about the region/winery where this is made. Some information points to a tourism office in Targon, France, other information to Vignobles Dufourg Landry, in Aquitaine.
There are indications that it's produced by a small independent winery, but I cannot confirm anything. Infact, I have been unable to locate any actual winery information and would LOVE it if someone could get specifics. I spent hours researching and came up empty!
Here's the location information I keep coming across:
Vignobles Dufourg
11, route de Sauveterre, 33760 Targon (France)
Phone: +33(0)556239016
Fax: +33(0)556239016
NOTHING comes up on Google Maps. WEIRD.

Fair taste. Nothing extraordinary. Want to know where it came from though! - 02/03/2008

Feb. 3, 2008 Millbrook Cabernet Franc 2005

Personal Notes

I'm a huge fan of the Franc varietal after first exposure to it in '06 at some of the North Fork Long Island wineries. This is a nicely priced vintage.

From Wine Enthusiast: "Cassis and spice lead this medium-bodied, garnet-red selection from Hudson Valley's Millbrook. There's some depth and backbone on the palate, with a touch of lightly oaky vanilla, plum and blueberry to add to the mix, but the finish is lean and overall, the wine's impression is somewhat fleeting. Nonetheless, would pair well with roasted meats and poultry dishes." — S.K. (2/1/2007) - 02/03/2008

No official ratings have been found - only for 2004 Reserve.

Winemaker's Notes: This Cabernet Sauvignon has deep, expressive aromas and flavors of berry and black currant with nuances of mocha, violets and spice. The fruit envelops an elegant structure with firm, velvety tannins and excellent length. The wine's personality comes from the soils and climates of vineyards located in the geographic center of Napa Valley. Fermentation with both native and cultured yeast strains gives layers of nuance to the wine, and extended skin contact intensifies varietal complexity and softens tannins. The wine was aged in French oak château barrels and bottled it without filtration to capture the full flavor profile and lush texture. - 02/03/2008
