Mar. 29, 2008	Fayolle Crozes-Hermitage Les Pontaix 2005 Fayolle Crozes-Hermitage Les Pontaix 2005 Region: Crozes-Hermitage, Northern Rhone, France > Winery: Jean Claude Fayolle Variety: Syrah Of four vintages I've tried of Fayolle's "Les Pontaix" rouge, this is certainly the most enjoyable and the one featuring the most admirable balance. While some previous vintages have suffered from oxidative qualities and a few odd notes that fall decidedly at the less palatable end of the earthy spectrum, this wine displays a beautiful purity of Northern Rhone Syrah. Savory black raspberries and plum cling to the palette as restrained earthy notes emerge from the mostly fruit-driven aroma. This isn't the best Crozes at its pricepoint, but it's a wonderful expression of healthy Syrah. - 03/29/2008		4/5 Stars. 1 2 3 4 5
