& Comments Oculus epitomizes exquisite balance, managing to be distinctively complex and concentrated yet elegantly styled, with a smooth, polished texture. The signature of the wine is the multiplicity of layers that unfold into decadent plum, blackberry and chocolate notes. The distinguishing rich, loamy earthiness and fine ripe tannins provide structure and mingle with lush fruit, ensuring that the wine will develop additional complexity over many years. If enjoying Oculus in its youth, we suggest decanting prior to serving.

The blend for the 2004 Oculus is 74% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot.

54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Shiraz. A firm, fine-grained and tight-knit blend based on vibrant and deeply flavoured cabernet and shiraz fruit. Its smoky, lightly meaty aromas of cassis, sweet plums and mocha/chocolate oak are backed by minty undertones of violets and menthol. Fine and silky, it’s long, willowy and charming, presenting a purity of fruit rare for this vintage. With a fleshy, creamy texture framed by bony tannins, it offers genuine elegance and refinement – hardly qualities recently attributable to this label. Cellar: 5-15 years. - 06/10/2008

cellaring: It can be cellared for up to 15-18 years, ideally at a constant 14-15°C, laid down and in the dark.

colour: intense garnet red.

bouquet: strong and persistent, ethereal and fruity bouquet with hints of black cherries and prunes, floral notes and sweet spice aromas.

flavour: full-bodied and rich, backed by structured, yet velvety tannins.

how to serve: Serve at a temperature of 18°-19°C ideally in large glasses. Uncork the bottle at least 2 hours in advance.

Organic. This Cabernet offers aromas of Bing cherry, currants and raspberry, with spicy notes of cedar and dried cranberry, with slight vanilla notes (French Vanilla, insists Christian). In the glass you’ll find juicy red berry flavors, and a very approachable, rich and full mouthfeel with a lingering, thoughtful finish. Good structure, polished yet soft tannins promise an ever more pleasing wine to come, with lively acidity and subtle spice.  - 06/10/2008

Purple-colored, it has a wonderfully expressive perfume of plum, black cherry, and blueberry compote. This leads to a full-bodied, seamless, rich wine with a long, pure finish.
