My Notes: Wine & Spirits Review-This wine grows just north of Geyserville, on 48-year-old vines planted on a steep, rocky slope. It maintains a core of the old-vine fruit goes to velvet rather than jam. It's zesty, sappy and tense, the power of the woodland blackberry fruit making a lasting impression. The velvet nap makes it dressy enough for a holiday, whether a Fourth of July cookout or a Thanksgiving turkey with sausage and apple stuffing.

My Notes: Wine Enthusiast Review-This is easily the best Bordeaux red wine Ironstone has ever produced, and it's a welcome addition to their portfolio. Mainly Cabernet, it's absolutely dry and smooth, with dense but finely ground tannins that lend grip and structure to the cassis fruit. Really good now, with its layers of complex interest.

My Notes: Liquorama 5/07. W&S review - urprisingly elegant for a 2003, this melds bright raspberry flavor with darker tones of savory black olives and freshly turned earth. The fruit character is beautifully floral, clean and fresh, a crush of berry flavor held in tense suspension with the tannin, so finely integrated that it's the fresh impression that lasts. Lovely to drink now with a roast leg of lamb, this will only get better with age

My Notes: Liquorama 3/07. W&S Review - Oak enhances the lean texture of Carneros merlot, without obscuring the scents of red fruit and earth. The wine's high notes of cherry contrast an elegant, chanterelle-like savor, a compelling balance with cool, earthy tones that last. Its complexity will develop further in years to come, the wine enjoyable anywhere along the way with a dry-aged steak.
