My Notes: Sourced by winery owner Joel Gott from vineyards throughout California (in Napa, Lodi and Amador counties), Gott's 2004 vintage fruit had a tight "set" during bloom, and small berry development during ripening. My Notes: An impressively endowed offering is the big, rich 2004 Zinfandel Duarte Vineyard. There are usually fewer than 500 cases of this effort, which generally reveals southern Rhone-like garrigue characteristics along with plenty of soil overtones, fresh black cherries, and a spicy, heady finish. |
