I really enjoy taking people on tours of our Calaveras County, California winery, crush pad, and wine cave. As part of my “shtick” I ask if anyone in the group knows what “Calaveras” means - and I am continually surprised at how few people who visit us know the answer! Do you? This is a quick post to point you at a very cool thing going on. It’s called “A Menu for Hope“. They’re food and wine bloggers raising money for a very good cause (the UN Food Programme), and at the same time you get to enjoy some very amazing wine experiences.
I wanted to mention, in passing, that an odd sort of event happened tonight. Several of us “geeky types” converged on “Capozzi Island” in “Second Life” for a “Wine 2.0″ “discussion.”
What exactly is the threat to our nation’s youth and moral fiber, other than (gasp) wine drinking might actually be a nice wholesome thing to do?
These cats here at WineLog have asked me to blog with them. In asking me to do this, I’m pretty sure they don’t know quite what they have gotten themselves into. Heck, I’m pretty sure I don’t know quite what I have gotten myself into, either. In any case, I can give fair warning that I find myself passing into a curmudgeonly rabble-rousing phase so anything is possible…
