A little under a year ago I met Jason and Kim. They are different from the rest of us. They are young, very mature for their age, and they see a bigger picture for themselves and WineLog. Also, my wife and I had never been to a self-uniting ceremony before. Pretty cool.
I had been thinking of starting my own initiative, and in fact was in the process of hiring developers to begin. Instead, my meeting with Jason and Kim altered my plans. I asked to join their team and was incredible happy when they accepted my offer. I’m happy to be the new CEO in town and excited about the future.
As for WineLog, I was instantly attracted to the project. Its ease of use. Its focus on the 95% of wine drinkers that are common folk versus the 5% expert. I admire the experts but rarely understand them — how do you tell an 89 rating from a 90? The recommendation engine is like a good wine. Its good now and will get much better with time. Ultimately, we all buy wine based on recommendations.
Jason and Kim have built an great product, but more importantly they built a great platform from which we can create a great future. Their focus is spot on! As I tell anyone who will listen, it’s about the users, not about us. So many companies and websites forget that. We have some big plans. I do have charts (as any CEO would) but more importantly our team has heart! It shows in all we do. Keep coming back, we should be different every time.
Feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions or questions. We are here for the wine community!
Thanks for all the warm congratulations I received since coming on board.

Congrats again, Bill.
Thanks for the kind words. We know WineLog is “cool”, but it’s great to have someone like you around to always remind us.
p.s. I’m jealous of your head shot. It also kind of looks like you’re winking in the smaller versions (check the homepage).
Now I’m going to have to take a picture of Jason winking… come to think of it I do have one from the honeymoon. hmmmm.
Anyway, Bill - thank you! It’s actually quite ridiculous how glad we are to have you on the team. You are the best CEO we ever had (not to mention the first)
