Austrian wine industry under fire over wine ad.

It was a radio ad, and the offensive bit was a description of Gruener Vetliner wines as an “anti-depressant ideal against the usual Monday-morning blues”. It’s kind of funny, but then “medicating” yourself with alcohol is a sign of alcoholism. Of course it is more socially acceptable to drink wine to improve your physical health rather than your mental health. Like our friend Ugly, who drinks red wine for the resveratrol.

The article says that many Austrians are concerned with teenage binge drinking. I found it interesting that in Austria wine seems to be a candidate for binge drinkers. In “the states” is all beer for our teenagers. Perhaps wine is relatively cheaper in Europe? Maybe European binge drinkers are just a little classier than their US brethren?
