There are several things I wanted to write about this week.  So, I just waited until Friday and decided to put them into one post.

My wife and I met up with Dezel at the new Whole Foods to take advantage of the new wine tasting room.  We tried some wines and had a great time.  It is dangerous that I work so close to that place.  To be honest, I tried about 5 wines and wasn’t totally thrilled with any of them.  (Plus none in the $10 range)  I made some tasting notes and I will post them on my blog this weekend.

MSN has posted several articles this week on wine.  The first one about the Top 10 Emerging Wine Regions was great.  Good to see Virginia representing at #10.  The other is about South Africa.  Here are the links:

Lastly, on my earlier post about the cork mold - I opened the wine last night.  To my disappointment, it was VERY acidic and not worth drinking.  Back to the store it goes.

Matt, aka CardCat, focuses his efforts on reviewing wines that are under $10. His 10 Dollar Wine blog chronicles his attempts at finding those hidden value wines. View Matt's Wine Log.

One Response to “Catching Up”

Hi Matt,

Nice meeting you all this week! That state of the art tasting room is pretty neat. I plan on visiting this weekend and trying some of the higher end wines and seeing if anything wows me. The Hendry Block 28 Napa Zinfandel 03 topped my list during our visit.

Out of curiosity, the acidic wine you returned, was it at all tannic also? In your opinion did it need more time in the bottle, or just a poorly made wine – totally out of balance?

For anyone wishing to see our Enomatic tasting room I just posted some visuals on the my at http://www.myvinespot.com

One day, hopefully, there will be an Enomatic tasting room on every corner!
