Viddler Player at WLTVGary Vaynerchuk over at tv.winelibrary.com has started using Viddler’s video player for his shows. It works really well.

Viddler is a site that, like YouTube, allows you to upload and share videos. What Viddler adds to the mix is a neat interface for adding comments to the videos at specific times and (this is important too) much better video quality. We’re talking more-gooder video quality.

To call wine reviews a “killer app” for the service is a bit of an overstatement, but Viddler’s player works really well for broadcasts like Gary’s. The producers add a comment to the video at the beginning of each individual wine review. This lets viewers find the spot in the video that interests them the most. More importantly, Wine Library can now link directly to the exact time of a wine’s review in the video, which they are doing from their product pages. Nicely done.

So check out Gary’s show (again). Yesterday’s WLTV episode was good. And be sure to check out other videos at Viddler. I think you might find the experience more interactive and enjoyable than your typical YouTube fair.

Disclosure: WineLibrary TV is a sponsor of WineLog. Also I met Rob Sandie, Co-founder and President of Viddler, and thought he was a way cool guy.

Thank you Jason for the kind words. It was great meeting you as well.

Colin Devroe deserves lots of credit here, as he is really the person that connected WLTV and Viddler and worked extra hard doing mockups and such to show how we could work together.

Jason, thanks for the write up. We’re really happy with the result of a lot of hard work by Viddler’s team. If it wasn’t for them working long hours, late nights, and doing some masterful stuff with Java and Flash - we’d never be able to set up relationships like the one we have with Gary and his team.

Thanks for noticing the update! We hope we continue to improve the experience of watching Wine Library TV for all of their audience for a long time to come.

Jason,

Gary is nuts(darn cold in NY/NJ..I can attest) and I love the guy. It’s great to see the wine culture be able to be on the cutting edge. Keep up the good work(You and him).
