Well… it’s the holiday season again. For many of us that means lots of shopping and wondering if the recipients of those gifts will like what we are getting them. This year I decided to make it easy on my friends and family by providing them with this musical list. I’ll spare you the agony of the first 11 days and get right down to the good stuff. Hummmmmmmm………

On the twelfth day of Christmas my wine friends sent to me -

And

* You knew I couldn’t do it without complaining about Pennsylvania’s wine stores didn’t ya ;)

p.s. grapecat and I had a lot of fun coming up with the items on this list. We’d love to hear others that would fit that we didn’t think of. Post ‘em here… I’d love to hear them.

Happy Holidays

My sister manages a Godiva and she’d be thoroughly disappointed by your request for DOVE chocolates…although I do enjoy Dove, you can’t go wrong with dark chocolate from Godiva. Any “Perfect Pinots,” “Chards a Chillin’” or “Golden Rieslings” in particular, or are you just an advocate of the varieties in general?

In the “Chards a Chillin” category I like ‘em crisp and fruity. In the past few months I have really enjoyed the 2004 J. Lohr Riverstone Chardonnay, and 2001 Sebastiani Sonoma County Chardonnay.

Not sure I have found any “Perfect Pinots” in my under $25 category. But, I do like the 2005 Cloudline Pinot Noir and the 2003 Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Noir a lot.

I have yet to explore the “Golden Riesling” varietal in any depth. It’d be great if somebody could recommend a few good ones.

I did recently have a riesling that I enjoyed (and it’s $10 a bottle!). Try the 2005 Essence Riesling - it’s from the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region in Germany and is produced by S.A. Prum. It has notable mineral and peach aromas.
