We are happy to announce that we have entered into a partnership with WineZap.com to provide our users a way to buy wines they view on our site.

If a wine in our database is available for purchase at WineZap, a “Buy Now” link will be available from our site to the WineZap website. The wine you’ve chosen, along with some related wines, will be shown in a list on the WineZap page. Jus click on the wine you are interested in buying and follow the instructions to complete your purchase.

Nearly 1/3rd of our current wine listings are represented and available for sale at WineZap. If a wine you are trying to find does not have a “buy now” button, that means we could not find that wine at WineZap. In these cases, we encourage you to search through some of our other affiliates (or send the wine to your phone to your phone for a scavenger hunt through your local wine shops).

We hope you enjoy this new feature of the site. And, as always, we encourage you to contact us on the blog here (or through our contact page) to let us know how we can improve this feature.

Enjoy.

UPDATE: There are now buy buttons on wine logs as well.

This is a very nice feature. Thanks!

I think the buttons are way too bold. Gives me the feeling this is a sales site now. Not sure that is what I signed up for.

The orange is a bit bright, isn’t it. I might tone it down some, especially on the wine log page.

However, about 70% of the visitors to the site are coming through Google and more than likely trying to find the wine to buy. I wanted the button to stand out for these folks. On the other hand, I don’t want to give our loyal users a head ache looking at that orange. If they’re using the site regularly, they’ll be able to find the buy buttons when they need them.

What do you think about these options? I’d be good implementing one or both.

1) Make the buttons brown (or some other soft color) for logged in users.

2) Go with brown on the wine log page and orange on the wine info page.

Just an idea, I “mashed” the design from your site and WineZap.

Excuse if there is a mess

I decided to implement the color change feature. When you are logged in the buy now buttons should be a more palatable tan color.

Ron, I like that image, but didn’t want to put it in there now. We are working on a whole new design and layout for the site (more on this later) and are trying to refrain from spending too much time working on the current design. BTW, I noticed Dell uses a similar button at dell.com.
