Some of the oldest vineyards in France were planted here by the Romans over 2000 years ago. Major grapes include Syrah & Grenache, Mourvèdre, Viognier, Marsanne & Rousanne. Look for Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages, named Village wines (such as Cairanne) and AOC/Cru wines (such as Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Côte Rôtie).
